Atlanta Streets Alive hits the Historic West End!
ATLANTA – Atlanta City Councilmember Cleta Winslow is proud to welcome Atlanta Streets Alive to the historic West End on Sunday, April 20.
The car-free festival on the streets of Atlanta will take place from 2 until 6 p.m.
During the event, thousands of participants will walk, bike, dance, and experience intown Atlanta’s streets without cars. Restaurants and food trucks will also open their doors to festival goers. Also known a a ciclovía, Spanish for a temporary closing of the street to automobiles for use by people participating in recreational activity, such as bicycling, roller-skating, jogging, strolling, scootering, or skipping, Atlanta Street has grown into much more.
“It’s become a neighborhood celebration,” said Councilmember Winslow. “I encourage all Atlanta to join us in the historic West End for a day celebrating our city’s great diversity. I would also like to thank the organizers of Atlanta Street Alive for hosting this event in our community on what is already a day of celebration for many, with it taking place on Easter Sunday.”
The following streets will be closed to car traffic from 1:00p – 7:00p on April 20th in the West End neighborhood for Atlanta Street Alive:
· Ralph David Abernathy Blvd (from Langhorn St SW to Murphy Ave SW) all lanes
· Murphy Ave SW (from Ralph David Abernathy to Lee St Connector) all lanes
· White St SW (from Peeples St to Lee St SW) all lanes
The following streets will be open to car traffic as usual to ensure access around and through event:
North – South Traffic
· Langhorne St SW
· Lawton St
· Joseph E Lowery Blvd
· Lee St. SW
· Whitehall St
