ATLANTA BELTLINE 2015 SOUTHWEST 5K IS SATURDAY, JULY 11

Teams to Compete for $500 Cash Purse 

ATLANTA – The fifth annual Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K is a run/walk along the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest Trail and through the Historic West End and Westview neighborhoods, including a sneak peak at some of the Westside Trail construction currently underway. 

The Atlanta BeltLine Run.Walk.Go! Series has become popular for its featured challenges that engage runners and walkers in fun, friendly competition, and averages 500 or more runners each year. The Southwest 5K features the popular Team Challenge, where teams representing local businesses, schools, non-profits, run clubs, friends, neighborhoods and beyond, compete for a $500 cash purse shared between the largest, fastest and most spirited teams. There also is a 1K Youth Fun Run for runners 12 and under.

Nonprofits also can leverage this event to fundraise through the Atlanta BeltLine Community Builders program, where they earn $5 for their organization for each registrant that uses their special registration code.

What: The Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K includes exciting features such as: 

·       Route showcasing Art on the Atlanta BeltLine exhibits, such as the West End Remembers mural on White Street

·       Team challenge, with awards to the fastest team, the largest team and the most spirited team 

·       Participants of the Atlanta BeltLine Active Lifestyle Competition will earn points and can compare their results against other runners on the online leaderboard

·       Fun, creatively-designed t-shirts 

·       Custom-designed, collectible award magnets and race series glasses

·       Course friendly to strollers and dogs as well 

·       Fun volunteer opportunities on race day, packet pickup and beyond. Volunteers can email run@atlbeltlinepartnership.org for details.

Registration is $35 for the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K – price increases to $40 on race day. Additional information about the Atlanta BeltLine Run.Walk.Go! Race Series is available at BeltLine.org/races. 

Proceeds from the Atlanta BeltLine Run.Walk.Go! Race Series support Atlanta BeltLine Partnership programs vital to the Atlanta BeltLine, including tours and other public outreach.
