New Resturant on MLK:Mardi Gras Cafe
From what I hear, this restaurant is unlike any other in our community. The chef/owner is doing something most do not consider when opening a business on our side- he’s serving fine cuisine with an understanding of the demand from the residents.
I said in the past, our commercial corridor has been plagued with half-hearted, boot legged businesses run by people who live in Conyers or Roswell and see us as a place to dump their practice ideas. They read snap shot market reports that speak highly of our foreclosure rates, lower home values, income levels and student- or tenant to owner ratios and they forget that there are humans behind the black and white thus leaving their poorly serviced restaurants to fold, – WE DO NOT SUPPORT TRASH! /Rant
Well, the Mardi Gras Cafe isn’t leaving anything to chance- nor taking their opening lightly. The owner was before at the NPU, requesting approval for his alcohol license as they want to expand the cafe into an top level, upscale lounge. Our chair and residents spoke highly on their behalf, thus a vote taken approved “support” with no opposition. As of now the Cafe on the lower level is serving authentic Louisiana cuisine. I’m looking forward to grabbing some lunch here today and a few pictures for the blog.
Remember to support our local businesses- those that provide good service, as they are taking a chance at succeeding and helping to revitalize our community making us a great in-town destination.
