Habitat in our hood…
I have three kids. Their age range: 2-9-12….. so you know, not only is my car messy- it’s also noisy. I don’t usually add to the noise with the radio, but my husband seems to believe the louder the radio, the more he can drown out the kids. However, there are two things that will cause me to turn up the voulume (no, NOT my favorite R.Kelly song) but 1) a discussion on the housing market and 2) over hearing the words “Southwest (or Northwest) Atlanta” .
I’ve been searching the Internet to validate what I think I heard about Clark Howard and Habitat for Humanity developing Clark’s 50th home in Dixie Hills. Here’s a brief note from his staff about it but no mention of Dixie Hills. Disappointed I can’t pin down the exact location, but what is NOT disappointing are the MANY homes Habitat has built in SW/NW Atlanta in an effort to provide affordable housing to great neighbors, and in an effort to stabilize some of our most blighted streets. I see the fruits of their labor when driving down these street of new homes, with new homeowners and families sitting on their porch or washing their car. The beauty drowns out the blight- almost like turning up the radio.
Kudos to you Habitat for all of your hard work. Thank You– my loud children and I greatly appreciate your help in restoring our communities.
Here is an annual report of their work.
