Today, most of the Westside Trail of the Atlanta Beltline remains undeveloped dirt. However, that hasn’t stopped local architects from coming up with some big plans for the trail’s entrance at Adair Park, a neighborhood in Southwest Atlanta.
The local chapter of the American Institute of Architects recently announced a national design competition for a new pavilion there. It’s in partnership with the city and Atlanta Beltline Inc., and its goal is to create a connection between the new trail network and the historic neighborhood.
Melody Harclerode is president of the AIA in Atlanta and also program coordinator with the Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance. She shared a little of Adair Park’s history.
